What Is Class IV Laser Therapy?

Class IV Laser Therapy is an advanced, non-invasive treatment that uses focused light energy to activate the body’s natural healing response. The laser penetrates deep into muscles, tendons, and joints, helping to reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and accelerate tissue repair.

This therapy is highly effective for both acute injuries and chronic conditions, offering a safe and comfortable way to support faster recovery without medication or surgery.

How Class IV Laser Therapy Works

When the laser light reaches the affected area, it activates a powerful healing response within the tissue. The light energy:

  • Increases blood circulation, delivering essential oxygen and nutrients needed for recovery

  • Reduces inflammation and swelling, helping ease stiffness and discomfort

  • Stimulates cellular repair, allowing damaged tissues to rebuild more quickly

  • Decreases nerve sensitivity, which helps relieve pain naturally

Together, these effects support faster healing, improved mobility, and long-lasting pain relief.

What to Expect During Your Session

Before your session:

Your physiotherapist will begin by assessing your condition and explaining the treatment process. The area being treated will be exposed, and you will be positioned comfortably. For safety, everyone in the room will wear protective eyewear during the procedure.

During treatment:

The laser handpiece is gently moved over the affected area, delivering focused light energy deep into the tissues. Most patients experience a pleasant warming sensation as the laser penetrates muscles, tendons, and joints.

After treatment:

There is no downtime after Class IV Laser Therapy. You can return to your normal activities immediately. Some patients notice relief right away, while others experience gradual improvement over several sessions as the healing process continues. Mild soreness may occasionally occur after treatment.

Treatment time and frequency:

Each session typically lasts 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the size and location of the area being treated. Your physiotherapist will create a personalized treatment plan, often starting with several sessions per week and gradually reducing frequency as your condition improves.

Are There Any Risk ?

Class IV Laser Therapy is a gentle and non-invasive treatment when performed by a trained professional. The majority of patients experience no side effects. In some cases, mild warmth or temporary redness may occur at the treatment site, but these effects typically fade quickly.
